Manor Park Schools Book Award
On Friday 24th June 2022, Little Ilford School Book Club members joined other book club members from our feeder schools to celebrate our second Manor Park Schools Book Award (first in person as we were on Zoom last year). The award was set up to encourage and inculcate a love of wider reading to all students in order for them to enhance their knowledge and understanding of every subject that they learn in school and for their future lives. Five books were shortlisted for the award but “Jelly”, written by Jo Cotterill, got the most votes and was declared the winner. As a thank you Jo Cotterill herself sent us a lovely video message which can be viewed here: Our special guest, Mr Bobby Seagull, had great rapport with his audience and also brought to their attention a Jane Austen quote featured on ten pound notes which says, “I declare after all there is no enjoyment like reading”. At LIS library we definitely agree with this statement! Mr Finn our Headteacher and Mr Seagull presented the Best Reader Award to one pupil from each participating school. Little Ilford School…
